In previous articles, we’ve referred to Pulse Width Modulation or PWM signals pretty frequently. Unfortunately, so far we haven’t really explained what it is! Well, at least not in great depth.
So to make amends you can now find an entire Application Bulletin devoted to the wonders of PWM. This magical beast is great for driving vibration motors, or any DC motor for that matter. It can be easily manipulated with the microcontroller and lots of different motor drive ICs accept it as an input.
But above all, it enables you to exert even greater control over your vibrating motor. This opens the door for more advanced vibration alerting and haptic feedback, adding value to your product.
