We’ve previously covered how to drive vibration motors with PWM signals, making a key simplification about the nature of how the motor responds to the on/off nature of the PWM signal.
To make things easier we assume the motor behaves with a linear response. It’s a fair simplification for vibration motors, as the nature of the output doesn’t require an exact linear response.
However for motion control applications using DC motors and gearmotors the finer details of the response can be more important. To that effect, we have a new application bulletin covering the limits of the PWM frequency and how it affects the response of the motor.
